I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If you are unable to locate the main valve to turn off, then you may want to try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside your house to depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Once you have stopped the problem from growing, give our emergency plumber a call, at any time of the day or night. We’ll be there rapidly to resolve the problem.

While you are waiting for the plumber to arrive, remove any significant things close to the leak, and mop up any water or position a bucket to catch any drips. If you’ve turned the mains water off, also switch off the heating for the hot water as well.
