I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

Many appliances and fixtures have isolating valves that can be turned off. For example, the toilet will have an isolating valve below or beside the cistern. If you cannot locate a valve, or that doesn’t stop the leak, then turn off the mains tap to stop all water to your home.

Now give our on call plumbers a ring, any hour of the day or night. We’ll be at your home as soon as we can to save the day.

While waiting, clear away any significant things from the area, and clean up any water or put a container to catch the drips. If you’ve turned the mains water off, switch off the hot water heating as well.

Help, I don�t know where the main water shutoff valve is!
