I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If there is water still leaking, turn off the isolating valve to the appliance or fixture if possible, or go straight to the main water shutoff valve for your home. If you are unable to find the tap to turn off, then you could try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside your house to depressurise the system and minimise the leak.

Now give our on call plumbers a ring, any hour day or night. We will be there as soon as possible to resolve the problem.

While you wait for our plumber to arrive, start wiping up any water, place a container to catch drips, and clear away valuable possessions from the area. If the property water is turned off, also switch off the heating for the hot water.

Help, I don’t know where the main water shutoff valve is!
