I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If water is leaking, turn off the water at the nearest service valve and then at the mains tap outside. If you cannot find the water main isolation valve or a tap to the appliance, then turn on all the cold taps inside and out to depressurise the household pipework and minimise the leak.

While waiting, remove any important items from the area, and wipe up any water or put a container to catch the drips. If you have turned the mains water off, switch off the heating for the hot water as well.
