I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

While you wait, begin cleaning up any water, position a container to catch any drips, and clear away valuable possessions from the affected area. If the house water is turned off, then also switch off the heating for the hot water.

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.
