I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If water is leaking, turn the water off at the nearest location and then at the mains tap outside. If you cannot find the water main isolation valve or a tap to the fixture, then turn on all the cold faucets inside and out to help depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

Once that is done, give us a call, no matter what the day or time is. We will be with you rapidly to get things sorted.

In the meantime, start wiping up any water, put a container to catch any drips, and remove valuable items from the area. If the mains water is turned off, then also switch off the heating for the hot water.

Help, I don’t know where the main water shutoff valve is!

You may have been shown it as a stopcock, isolating valve or toby. This valve is normally located on the boundary near the road, usually under a blue or black plastic cover.

Remember, a lot of appliances and fixtures have their own isolating valves also.
